Recipe Card Challenge

This weeks Recipe Card Challenge is for a Spring Cleaning recipe.  I made mine for a linen spray. It's VERY easy to make AND works and smells wonderful!!!  My dd had me make her some Fresh Cut Roses spray and it smells just like roses!

Recipe Card Challenge using Flowersoft

Well...I don't have "Flowersoft" so I made my own using two small pieces of styrofoam :)  Rub them together and the little flakes fly off and can easily be colored with any color re-inker you desire :)  I used yellow for the little ears of corn on the stalks. The leaves on the two large ears are done form coffee filters using the Frosted Filter technique (tutorial posted in earlier post).  These pies are deLICIOUs!!! I really had fum making this card for the Recipe Card Challenge this week :)

Recipe Card Challenge Sewing in the Kitchen

This weeks challenge at Recipe Card Challenge is "Sewing In The Kitchen". Use stitching or faux stitching in my recipe card.  I used BG Sugared paper, and for the checked paper (apples, basket & corner mount). Made itty bitty cinnamon sticks out of scrap brown cardstock and tied with a piece of Farmer's Market Cherry Twist thread. I handstiched across the top of the recipe and faux stitched the rest.

New Recipe Card Challenge

This week's Recipe Card Challenge is to create a recipe card that holds a full meal. It'll inspire you to create
outside your little comfort zone...out of the box :)  Here's mine.  I made a dinner for April Fool's Day :)

The base holds the tags and looks like a shirt or dress bodice. The corsage in the Menu tag.

Recipe Card challenge

I actually made it for the Comfort Food recipe challenge at Recipe Card Challenge Blog, I used Sizzix small Ladybug die body and cut off the "head" to make the grapes, the Sizzix green die (small) Leaf Trio for the leaves, and skinny strips of green curled aroud a small paintbrush for the vines.  MS border punch.  SU Carte Postale set for the greenery and flowers around the edge of the card.

Favorite Recipe recipe cards

I made some recipe cards for a swap on ISC.  Some of my - or my family's - favorite recipes.  The Lemon Cake brings back such great childhood memories of my mom (who is no longer with us).  It has a wonderful "sweet tart" taste! The Twinkie Cake is one I ran across that the kids - especially my two oldest boys :)

I've done a few cards, also, from some new stamps that I bought.  I'll be uploading them soon :)

I made this 6x6 recipe card for Peachy Keen's challenge...using my favorite face stamps.  Die cuts are all Sizzix dies - Snowman, Circles (used two smallest for the little snowmen), Bowl (cut out of clear plastic), Tree. The faces are PKS PK-520 - Snow Faces The trees and sky are green and blue glitter cs.  I used irridescent glitter on the little guys' cheeks, the top hat and edge of bowl.
I added the glitter for Jacque's challenge at ICS.

I stamped snowflakes on the blue cs with Chocolate Chip.  Inked all the blue edges with it, too.  Embossed the brown cs - except for the base card - with Swiss Dots. Embossed a narrow strip of blue and ran the Chocolate Chip pad over it.  Glued everything together, added Stickles dots beside ingredients and on Rudolph's nose and voila!
 

Christmas Cookies Recipe Card

Made eight of these today.  I only need six for a swap I'm in, but I like to make extras for Hostess gifts or to have on hand for making Recipe Books.

I used:

Bazzil textured cs (green), Basic Grey and Sizzix die for the candy canes, Glued glitter on the white parts. Pink Paislee's Enchanting for the background beneath the recipe.  SU wrought iron corner punch.

Recipe Cards for swaps

Here are a couple of more recipe cards for some swaps I'm in.  I'm really addicted to these things!  In the past month or so, I've made 119 recipe cards - 6x6.  I'll keep some and some I'll make into cookbooks with my Bind-It-All and use as gifts. These recipes are for Christmas candy/treats swaps:

Family Halloween party door prize

Every year for our Halloween party, I supply the door prize.  Usually it is something I've hand crafted.  One year I made soap, lotion and powder and made up a bath basket.  Another year I made canister candles.  This year it's a copycat recipe book.  It's 6x6 and has 22 copycat recipes in it plus additional white cs pages in the back for what ever :)  Here is a pic of the cover and 3 of the 22 recipes.

Christmas Traditions Bar Cookies

Another memorable recipe are these bar cookies.  I remember my mom making them when I was a little girl.  I asked her for the recipe and she had lost it during moving from one state to another. I searched years for this recipe.  I found it shortly after she passed away in 1996 - after nearly 20 years!  I've been making them every year since and they are as good as I remember them!! 

Christmas Traditions Wassail

With the upcoming holidays quickly approaching, I find myself remembering the warmth and love of my family's gatherings. We would all gather at our parent's house, each bringing a special dish or treat.  We would open gifts while the turkey cooked, "ooh" and "aah" over the candy, cookies, pies...  Today, when we gather, we remember those days.  Both parents and a sister have passed on and so the "gathering place" has been at one of my brothers house.  We still share the love of family with new additions that never got to meet their great grandparents or great aunt.  We have started new traditions and carried on with old...but the spirit of giving and loving is never-changing.  I've been making recipe cards to hopefully bind into books for each of my siblings. Each recipe is one of the special dishes that have been brought to the holiday table for many, many years and passed on to the next generation.  This recipe for Wassail is one I've been making for over 20 years, and is still in demand at the gatherings. Hope you enjoy it as nuch as my family does :)

Eggnog Muffins recipe

This is a recipe card for a swap I'm in. I used worded background paper. For the pp that the recipe is on, I used brown, soft sky and tempting turquoise dye inks from SU.
The snowflake stamps are dollar stamps from craft stores and Studio G.
I used Sizzix cup cake and cone die and turned it into a muffin by turning the ice cream upside down.
I know brown isn't a color usually associated with winter and winter holidays, but I think it complimented the layout pretty well.
(Plus, these are soOOOo gOOOOd!!!)

My first image post to my blog. This is a 6x6 recipe for a swap on ISC. It is for a soup recipe. I made a pocket out of black cs, used die cut letter "U"'s for the handles, SU punch for the lid handles. The background is stamped with SU stamps with extras stamped for the vegies on the front of the pot. White pigment ink was used for the highlighting and edges of the pot. The ladle was made from a circle die cut cut in half and a strip of the same cardstock for the handle. The lid slides out to show the recipe.
